LEAD Program


Eugene Field Elementary is furthering their school mission statement of using the 7 Habits to Learn, Lead and Succeed by implementing a new Friday after-school enterprise called LEAD - Learn, Enrich And Discover!

The LEAD program is an after-school enterprise that aims to develop creativity, promote critical thinking, enhance higher order thinking skills and prepare kids for college through real world experiences. The program is unique in that it is offered four Friday's a quarter and is incorporated into the school day. 

Courses such as Engineering (provided by the Putnam Museum), Circuitry (provided by the Putnam Museum), Cooking (provided by HyVee Rock Island), and Art (provided by

Students visiting flight school!the FIGGE) are a few of the possibilities. 
Students in 5th and 6th grades go on visits to local colleges and universities and explore career majors available after graduating from high school. Students are also exposed to career paths in the construction and building trades. There is also a session where students can visit a local airport and learn from a flight instructor about aviation! 

LEAD Time will take place four Friday’s per quarter (every other Friday) and begin at 12:30 p.m.
